Comment on Wall Mounted Aquarium – Looks pretty … by Steve

I own one of these beautiful aquariums. They embellish the room's decor, and astonish and delight your guests.

Amusingly these tanks remind me subliminally of watching a DVD of ' Finding Nemo' on an unconventional flat screen monitor, the DVD start menu replaced with real fish.

I use small angel fish, their body proportions matching the tanks proportions. With the one submergible pump, the little guys enjoy swimming against the current. The light and pump are common standard type equipment in most pet supply stores.

Weight of the 'standard' tank (44.5" x 25.6" x 4.5") is 58 lbs. dry out of the box. Add 8 gallons volume of fresh water - another 60 lbs roughly. 118 lbs. total. Comparable in weight to a very large wall mounted flat screen television.

To do it right, obviously you must anchor the aquarium mounts into the wall studs (well daaaa!!!). Also a discrete electrical outlet behind the aquarium's planned location should be incorporated in installation planning, to do it clean. Terry and Reef Rancher it seems would be engineering challenged to accomplish this. Homes, dental offices, and especially restaurant owners seem to be purchasing many of these.

My concern is many new aquarium owners will be introduced to this hobby (great!), but may initially think home decor first, and aquarium second. The tank and fish still require the usual maintenance and care. Placement of a well anchored tank on a wall within your space should also be considered for ease of access for maintenance long term.

A wonderful product. I like it.

Oh, congratulations! And since I had the Peep without the benefit of pharmaceuticals, I know exactly how she feels, and it can be summed up in one word - "ooooooooowwwwwww".

Take care, and talk to you soon.
